In August, Kingswood University became the first Canadian site for The Emerging Sound, a songwriting camp for teens ages 13-17. Young people from around Canada and the U.S. gathered with Kingswood interns to be mentored by and receive hands-on learning from acclaimed songwriters, Jennie Lee Riddle (Revelation Song and Hope of the Broken World) and Travis Ryan (We Believe and Fearless).
The teaching staff for The Emerging Sound camp in Canada also included Steven Musso and Kingswood’s own Scott and Elizabeth Rhyno. They joined Riddle and Ryan to spend the week with students, leading them in worship, and collaboratively writing songs each day.
Some great songs were written during the week. Along with songs that were written in July at another songwriting camp in Dallas, several songs from the Canadian camp will be recorded and included on the upcoming release from The Emerging Sound.
“This was a successful initiative,” said the camp’s host, Elizabeth Rhyno. “And, it was an incredible opportunity to bring young students on campus and invest in the next generation of worship leaders and writers. Their heart for the Church grew as they honed their skill and deepened their network with other like-minded people.”
