This October 13-14 2017, Kingswood University held their Encounter weekend youth rally here on campus. They had high school students come from as far away as Pennsylvania. They saw an increase in attendance of over 400 high school students and youth leaders participate, in comparison to 300 the year before.
Guest speakers included Rev. Brent Ingersoll, pastor of one of the largest churches in Eastern Canada; Rev. Zach Coffin, Director of Next Generation Multiplication & Discipleship for The Wesleyan Church; and Rev. Mark Brewer, pastor at Crosspoint Wesleyan Church.
A number of students received Christ for the first time, and about twenty students accepted the call to ministry. Youth pastor and long-time attender Melissa Swim had this to say about Encounter:
One of my favorite things about Encounter weekend is seeing how God works in our youth group . . . Every visit to Kingswood University blesses me so much. It shows me that there is hope for our future and that God is still working. He is still moving in a mighty way.
Both Kingswood staff and students invested heavily into making this event a success. As part of the Encounter experience, high school attendees had the option to stay with Kingswood students on residence. Many of them chose to do so and were blessed by the interactions with the students.
