As the new library assistant, Amanda McFadzen works alongside our librarian Virnna Sabine here at the Earle and Marion Trouten Library. Originally from Fredericton, she has a B.A. in Sociology from Crandall University in Moncton.

Amanda obtained her Certificate in Family Violence Issues from the University of New Brunswick. However, she couldn’t see herself as a social worker, so she worked retail for five years instead.

Realizing how much she loved library work, Amanda returned yet again to school. This time she graduated with her Library Information Technology degree from the Nova Scotia Community College in Dartmouth.

Amanda completed her library work placement at Crandall, where she met Virnna who happened to have just completed her placement as well, about a month previous. It wasn’t too long later that Virnna contacted the head librarian at Crandall to notify him of a library assistant position available at Kingswood. Amanda applied for the position and was readily accepted.

Amanda’s role as library assistant consists of cataloguing, working at the circulation desk, shelving, and helping students with their research needs. She always dreamed of working in a small Christian university’s library and is more than happy to be here at Kingswood. She absolutely loves her job and thinks that being surrounded by books all day long is simply the best!

Amanda enjoys reading Christian fiction, travelling, and watching Christmas movies.
