Don (’81) & Janet (FS ’74) Ingersoll
In 2008, Don and Janet joined the pastoral team of Moncton Wesleyan Church in New Brunswick. Don serves as Associate Pastor and Janet is an Administrative Assistant at the church. Recently, Don, who gives leadership to special events and productions, was interviewed on CTV Morning Live (Canada) about the Christmas event at Moncton Wesleyan’s Celebration Centre. (See above link.)
Don’s and Janet’s ministry experience of 34 years includes 9 years working in Enrolment and Music at Kingswood University, 5 years creating the camping ministry at Caton’s Island, and 18 years serving as pastor of Kings Valley Wesleyan Church in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Under their leadership, Kings Valley became the largest protestant congregation in the Saint John area, and a new 900 seat worship centre was constructed. They have two adult children, Lindsay and Brad, a daughter-in-law, Rachel, and two grandchildren, Colton and Cailyn.
Cameron “Pete” (’81) & Virgina (Brown ’79) Benson
About 15 years ago, Pete started Beacon Capital Management, an independent, full-service financial planning and investing firm. The company has four advisors and nine staff members, including Ginnie who became the general manager after taking early retirement from AT&T. The firm also has a weekly radio show called “Living Well.” Recently, Pete was viewed on CNBC as he gave the 30-second outlook on U.S. economy. (See above link.)
Earlier in their ministry, Pete and Ginnie planted churches in Prince Edward Island and Huntsville, Alabama. Currently, they are helping some friends pioneer a new church, called Church of the City, in the middle Tennessee area. They reside in Mount Juliet, a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee. They have three grown children, Ginger Jo, Amanda, and Daniel, and six grandchildren. Pete is a member of the Board of Trustees for Kingswood.
Ryan(’07) & Sarah (Brown ’07) Wiedmaier
After graduating from Kingswood, Ryan earned the B.S. in Education degree at the University of Maine in Presque Isle. Then, they moved to Medford, Oregon, where Sarah worked with Shane Milne (FS 09), serving as Assistant Pastor of Grace Community Church. Last year, Ryan became the Mentor and Alumni Coordinator for a small Christian Alternative High School in Bellevue, Washington, which is an affluent suburb of Seattle. About 75% of their students are recovering drug addicts. Using a holistic approach,Eastside Academy provides counselling, recovery classes, mentoring, and life skill programs, in addition to having academic classes through which students earn a high school education.
“It’s a pretty amazing ministry,” wrote Ryan. “We want to show kids that they are loved – by our staff, mentors, and God – and that there’s a better way to live. And, if along the way they happen to get a high school diploma, counselling, freedom from addiction, or life skills, then that’s good too.”
Ryan recruits, trains, and supports mentors who provide life skills and model Jesus. He also coordinates support for students who have either graduated or left the school by offering them many of the same services the school provides current students, and he sees that a scholarship fund for further training is maintained. Additionally, Ryan teaches English and Culinary Arts, and does most of the cooking for school events.
Sarah serves on staff at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. As the Sunday Child Care Associate to three-year-olds, she has three classes for three Sunday morning services. She is also “second in command,” of the church’s Child Care Centre. Ryan and Sarah have two daughters, Michal (5 years old) and Evelyn (1 year old).
