Seminar Descriptions

Nothing threatens our churches, our schools, our families, and our marriages more than the tidal wave of digital pornography that has washed over our culture throughout the last decade. Confronting this issue is not only important, it is essential if our communities are to survive. Jonathon Van Maren will address the nature and scope of this problem--as well as how we can respond.

As immigration has increased, 21st-century Canadian society has been rapidly diversifying, with the new neighbours and classmates being both across the street and from around the world. How are we as Christians to respond to this? Some people respond with fear and confusion. There is another way: as followers of Jesus, we have an opportunity to respond with hospitality and love to the opportunity to reach out to people from nations and cultures where they may never have heard the Gospel, or even heard of Jesus. Let's join God in what he is doing in the nations, and around the corner!

Pregnancy isn't the only consequence of sex outside of marriage. What dangers face students in anera of the highest sexually transmitted disease epidemic in history?

Drug abuse research centers call the latest drug craze the “opioid crisis.” People die every day in our country trying to get and sustain a new kind of “high”. Experimentation, recreation and addiction to substance are shaping our culture. Come by for a conversation about e-cigarettes, alcohol, opioids, marijuana, and explore why generation Z is obsessed with getting high(er).

Reuniting the good news and good works in the fight against poverty. Through the “least of these” God plants His kingdom, unleashing its radical power to bring justice, wholeness, peace and spiritual transformation to the world. God is inviting us to be a part of it.

God has a heart for the forgotten poor all over the world and is using some extraordinary Christians to reach out to them in low down, high up, and out of the way places.

The God we serve has a heart for justice. He sees His people in need and their hearts cry out to Him. As aware members of the modern world we have a responsibility to act on behalf of these people in need. Acting can be local or global. In this session we will discuss initiatives by International Justice Mission that work to eradicate child exploitation. The focus will be on children in India and my recent time spent there where I was able to work with, and love on, many of these children.

Session 1: Greg and Lily Muir serve with Pioneers Canada in Bolivia with the Quechua. They are dedicated to taking the Gospel to those who have the least opportunity to hear the Gospel because of language and location. They have been serving in Bolivia fulltime since 2001.

Session 2: I was to serve the Lord but where and how? Should I be a Missionary in a foreign country or stay here on my own? Is it possible to serve God "Glocally"?
