Michael A. MacNeil, M.A.

Program Director and Associate Professor Of Evangelism & Compassion Ministry (Praxis)

mikemacneilWhen he was twenty-four years old and finishing his M.A. studies, Mike MacNeil became a Christian. Through a series of God-arranged circumstances, he became a professor at Kingswood less than one year later.

In his fifth year of teaching English, his role at Kingswood took a dramatic turn when God sparked in him a passion for evangelism and compassion ministry.

My heartbeat and passion is about reaching out to those outside the Church who don’t know Jesus. I want our students at Kingswood to discover what it means to be a servant and a witness.

Professor MacNeil developed a one year course called "Extreme Discipleship" which ran for ten years. It is now offered as a two or four year degree in Evangelism and Compassion Ministry and is known informally as "Praxis."

Professor MacNeil leads ministry teams of students to serve the poor, homeless, addicts, and incarcerated within the province, in major cities in Canada and the United States, and in countries around the world. He is also in demand as a speaker at churches, camps, rallies, and conferences.

    Antifragile Faith

“Some things benefit from shocks. They thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors. Depriving complex systems of volatility, randomness, and stressors will harm them. They will weaken, die, or blow up.” -Antifragile, Nassim Nicholas Taleb We have been “fragilizing” many things in our socie...

    Best Christmas Card Ever

Once a month on a Tuesday night I take Kingswood students to prison to do a chapel service and minister to the inmates. Last year my students lead one of the largest, scariest prisoners to Christ. I cannot tell you his name, but I can describe him. He is a former Hell’s Angel. He has...

    Adventuring with Jesus

I am writing this at the Houston airport on my way back from Peru. By the time I get home tonight it will be a 36hr stretch of straight travel. Last year I spent 3 months on the road in 7 countries. As with Peru, much of this was leading teams on ministry and mission....

    Holy Spirit Double-Header

I take Kingswood students to do chapel at prison once a month on Tuesday nights. Last night was one of those nights. It was a great night, but as is often the case, it didn’t start that way. It started with a message from the prison chaplain saying that the prison had been closed to...
